Notes for JESSE HINTON:
On January 2, 1812, Jesse Hinton with his wife and six children secured a passport to travel through the Indian Nations of Georgia. Jesse Hinton sold 200 acres of land in Johnston Co., NC and migrated first to Georgia and then to Marengo Co., Alabama. Eventually he and his family moved to Mississippi. He settled in Greene Co. (an area that later became Perry Co.) where he acquired a large estate on the Leaf River. On November 14, 1877 the courthouse burned and all records were destroyed. Therefore, little is known about him while in Mississippi. Leaving Johnston Co. with him were his brother-in-law, Long John McLeod, his sister, Mary Hinton O'Neal, her husband Bridgers O'Neal, and Bridgers' brother Frederick.

The Last Will and Testament of JESSE HINTON
I, JESSE HINTON, of Perry County, Mississippi, being of sound mind and disposing mind and memory and conscious of the uncertainity of life, do hereby make, declare and publish this my last will and testament, intending hereby to dispense at my death, of all my property, real, personal and mixed in the following manner, to wit,-
One I devise and bequeath unto my children ANNIE LUCILLE EVANS, HENRY C HINTON, MARY CATHERINE BYRD, ELBERT A HINTON, JESSE W D HINTON, MARTHA JANE MORGAN, LAURA C BELL LUGG, WM THOMAS J HINTON, HUGH S HINTON, AUSTELL EVANDER HINTON, JOSEPH E JOHNSTON HINTON, MAUDE P M HINTON, CAMIE E HINTON, all my property real, personal and mixed that I may own or be possessed of at my death, with the understanding and purpose that all my just debts be first paid out of my estate.
Two In as much as my second wife M.N. (HUNTER) HINTON deserted me more than two years prior to the execution of this will and otherwise mistreated me as in my judgment, to entitle me to a divorce from her, I therefore make no provision herein for her, and it is my express desire that she does not inherit any part of my estate. She received in cash from me at the time of her separation a cash settlement from me in full settlement of all claims she held for alimony and against my estate, and has not since and does not now live with me, and she posses herself a separate estate.
Three All my just debts owing by me at the time of my death shall be first paid out of my estate including doctor's bills and funeral expense.
Four I heretofore executed a deed of gift and conveyance to my three youngest children, J. E. J., MAUDIE P. M. and CAMIE E HINTON on 3rd day of Dec 1909 for certain lands embracing a part of my old home place, and it is my desire and will that said gift shall not be treated as an advancement, but that all my children shall inherit the property I leave share and share alike.
Five I name and declare my son HENRY C HINTON the executor of my will.
